The system is kind of simple, we run a piece of corporate software called bluephone elite to recieve the incoming messages. The software triggers an applescript every time a message is recieved. The apple script sends the message to a python OSC server that forwards it to a Processing script, the Processing scritp contains all the variables you need to mess with, the text content and the osc signal output, as well as the IP and port of the target application. The OSC signals we output have type tags so make sure your app supports type tags or you will have to modify the Processing script.
Stop laughing I know this is not the most completely smooth solution but it works well. If anyone out there wants to play with SMSLib and a whole lot of coding to make it work go for it and please send us the results.
Here are the step by step instructions if you want to play with this. Make sure you have enough credit to test through the mistakes.
You will need the following ingredients;
Blue Phone Elite available here.
Processing available here.
The OSCP5 Library available here.
Our apple script and python script available here.
1 Bluetooth capable Mac computer.
1 Bluetooth capable phone, non Symbian phones seem more reliable, ie older ones. We are using a Sony Erricson T68i.
Instructions can be found here.
